It is Lise’s personal goal to live 1000 lives in the one she has been given – but the one thing that will remain consistent is her love for the Ocean. As a Nova Scotian, from a sea-faring lineage, Lise has always felt a strong connection to the water. Consequently, she has tried to spend as much time as she could with it, loving the feeling of the waves rolling over, underneath and through her. For Lise – a landed Selkie - the Ocean – is where mind-body and soul connect.

Lise views the water as the medium unifying all life on Earth and as a water person, feels a personal responsibility to ensure its wellbeing. Lise is committed to a zero waste lifestyle and believes that we all could share responsibility for the health of our ocean playground by leaving the water and the beach cleaner than when we arrived.

Lise first experienced surfing as a teenager in the waters of the North Atlantic and while she fell in love instantly, it was not until moving to Vancouver Island in 2013 that surfing became a priority in her life. It was at this time where she learned Stand Up Paddle surfing.  Immediately, Lise knew she wanted a life centered on surfing, and she could not have imagined where it was going to lead.

Since then Lise has placed on the podium twice (fourth – 2016 and second – 2017) in the Tofino SUP Surf Invitational and has been a member of Team Canada twice (ISA Worlds and PanAmerican Games Qualifiers – 2017).  She is dedicated to this sport and is focused on training hard, and developing her water knowledge and surfing skills to compete at the international level.
