Committed to supporting the next generation of stand-up paddle athletes, Blackfish is excited to announce Selwyn Pritchard - British National U17 Champion who has just qualified for the 2025 ICF World SUP Championships - as the newest member of the Blackfish Team. 

At only 15, Selwyn is no stranger to the podium. The 2022 Dutch U12 SUP Champion (Tech, Sprints, and Long Distance) has now stepped up to the U17 division - and wasted no time in making his mark. He had an incredibly busy season racing on home turf in the Netherlands, as well as in the UK, Poland and Germany.

With dual British-Dutch nationality, Selwyn recently became the British National U17 Champion across all disciplines. True to form, he also persuaded organisers to let him line up alongside the UK’s top riders - including eight-time British Champion Blue Ewer - where he battled to an impressive 4th place in the long-distance race.

He is, without doubt, a rising force on the European SUP scene - and one to watch for the future.

Selwyn said: "I had been seeing paddlers at the events using Blackfish Paddles. One of my training partners, Elin van der Sar, is also a Blackfish paddler and uses the Nouméa 500 paddle. I tested her paddle among my other training partners' paddles, and felt that the Nouméa 500 was the best fit for me. 

I am excited to join the Blackfish Team and sharing my first ICF World SUP Championships (as part of Team Great Britain). I’m also looking forward to continuing my SUP career with the support of Blackfish Paddles."

Selwyn heads into the final stretch of his season with a series of major events lined up. He will compete at the German National Championship in Hanau from October 3–5, before heading to Abu Dhabi for the IOC World Championship from October 28 to November 2. His season concludes on December 14 at SUP 4 Life in Belgium, giving him the chance to showcase his talent on both national and international stages.
